Applying a tooth-coloured composite material to the surface of the tooth, the dentist is able to correct chips, cracks and wear to improve the aesthetics and function of the tooth. The finished tooth is then smoothed and polished to match the natural appearance of the surrounding teeth.

Treatment Process
1. Initial Consultation
- Discuss your smile goals and what you would like to improve.
- Check your teeth and gums are healthy and suitable for composite bonding.
- Talk through your treatment options and answer any questions you may have.
- Your dentist will explain if composite bonding is the right treatment for you.
2. Smile Design & Planning Appointment
- A digital scan of your teeth will be taken to create your personalised wax-up.
- Take detailed clinical photographs.
- Take a panoramic radiograph (OPG) if required to assess your teeth and supporting structures.
- Your wax-up will be used to carefully plan the ideal shape and proportions of your smile.
3. Smile Try-In
- Review the planned smile design before treatment begins.
- Try in the proposed shape so you can see how your new smile could look.
- Discuss the tooth shade and colour options to ensure the final result complements your smile and natural features.
- Discuss any adjustments or changes needed to ensure you are completely happy with the planned outcome.
4. Composite Bonding Appointment
- Once you are happy with the proposed smile design, we will proceed with your treatment.
- In most cases, little or no drilling is required.
- The tooth surface is gently prepared to help the bonding material adhere securely.
- Tooth-coloured composite material is carefully applied and sculpted to improve the shape, symmetry, and appearance of your teeth.
- The material is shaped to create a natural looking smile that complements your features.
5. Final Finishing
- Your dentist will refine, smooth, and polish the composite bonding.
- Final adjustments are made to ensure your smile looks and feels natural.
6. Aftercare & Maintaining Your Smile
- Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice daily and cleaning between your teeth regularly.
- Attend regular dental check-ups and hygiene appointments to help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
- Avoid biting hard objects such as pens, ice, or fingernails, as these can damage the composite material.
- Limit staining foods and drinks where possible, as composite bonding can be affected by staining over time.
- Consider wearing a night guard if you grind or clench your teeth to help protect your bonding.
