Emergency Treatment Process
- Initial Assessment: When you arrive, our priority is to understand your situation. We’ll carefully examine your mouth, listen to your concerns, and determine the urgency of the problem. This allows us to quickly identify whether immediate treatment is needed to relieve pain, save a tooth, or prevent complications.
- Pain Relief: Your comfort matters most. If you’re in pain, we’ll provide fast and effective relief before beginning any procedure. This may include local anesthesia or other pain-management methods, helping you feel calmer and more at ease.
- Immediate Treatment: Once the issue is identified, we’ll carry out the necessary emergency dental treatment. This could involve repairing a broken tooth, re-implanting a knocked-out tooth, draining an abscess, or replacing a lost filling or crown. Our aim is to stabilise your condition and protect your oral health straight away.
- Follow-Up Care: After your emergency treatment, we’ll guide you through the next steps for recovery. You’ll receive clear instructions on caring for the affected area at home, and we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment if further treatment or monitoring is required.
- Prevention Advice: We believe in protecting your smile long term. That’s why we take the time to share simple tips to help reduce the risk of future dental emergencies from maintaining good oral hygiene to wearing mouthguards during sports.
- Continued Support: Even after your emergency is resolved, we remain here for you. Our team provides ongoing care and reassurance, ensuring you have confidence that help is always available whenever you need it.
What is Dental Emergency?
You can’t avoid every dental emergency, but you can take everyday steps that make a difference. Take care of your teeth and visit us regularly to lower the risk of sudden problems and keep your smile protected.
Here are some simple ways to lower your risk:
- Keep up with regular check-ups: Meaning we can spot small issues early, before they turn into painful emergencies. Prevention is the best cure.
- Brush and clean between your teeth daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss, or interdental brushes to keep your mouth healthy and prevent decay.
- Protect your teeth during sports: If you play football, rugby, or other contact sports, wearing a mouthguard can prevent broken or knocked-out teeth.
- Be mindful of what you eat: Sugary snacks, sticky treats, and hard foods can damage teeth or dislodge fillings. A balanced diet supports oral health and reduces the chance of emergencies.
- Use your teeth wisely: Teeth aren’t tools! Avoid opening bottles, tearing packaging, or chewing ice to prevent chips and cracks.
- Don’t ignore small issues, sensitivity, a loose filling, or mild pain. Getting them checked early can prevent an emergency.
These simple habits protect your teeth and give you peace of mind by helping prevent emergencies.
